I am truly upset because I used my money and bought this game not knowing anything about what " expansion pack" means. When my friend told me about this game I got all excited and went onto Amazon to buy it. I got it today and I put the disk in my computer and it told me to get Medieval 2 Total War too use this. Amazon did not tell anyone on this sight about needing the first version. So to finish this report, make sure that you buy or have the the first version to us it.
In battles the AI will attack at full sprint as soon as your missile troops attack if they don't have superior missile troops. Archers can only be improved so far. The higher levels of castles have multiple circuits. Many of the reviews have indicated that the computer AI is stupid. I have loved all of them, and M2TW does not disappoint.I play on all very difficult settings and I found diplomacy extremely challenging but not impossible.
Stick with it and don't forget gifts are appreciated. These cannot automatically be built. I have played the Total War Series since the original Medieval Total War. The AI does attack too frequently without a general though.
However, defensive towers will only fire when you have troops in the vicinity to man them.*Faction priests can become Cardinals and vote to elect or be elected pope*M2TW has crusades and the recruitment, management, effects are handled much better than the original Medieval Total War.*All countries can get missions which can come from various sources including a countries own nobility, the pope, or other nations (assassinate a current king for better relations with the new king). Armor enhancements also cause the units to look different when they are in battle.*Guilds are available that offer specialized units and improvements. This must have been fixed with patches because the version I have has a aggressive AI that brings the fight to you early and often. Many battles would have been lost or at least caused more significant casualties if they had a decent commander.Basically, Total War has not changed dramatically, but the improvements continue to make it more and more fun to play.Changes / Improvements since Rome Total War:*Cities Specialize as cities or castles*New character types Priests, Merchants, Inquisitors, Heretics, and Witches. The guild will offer based on how the settlement or nation is run.*Prisoner ransoms are back from original Medieval Total WarSteps back from Rome Total War:*You can't select your heir.
The Total War Series continues to improve with Medieval 2 Total War (M2TW). The missions come with rewards if achieved and sometimes penalties if they are failed.*Mercenaries can be reinforced after losses if they are available in their current location.*Armor improvements don't affect every unit the same way. Heavily armored units can't be upgraded until more advanced armor is available. Much more realistic. Princesses can act as Diplomats or ensnare the hearts of foreign generals and bring them too your side.*Greatly improved siege warfare. It is fixed based on eldest son to current heir or if none exists or he is too young goes to next oldest brother.*I noticed an odd bug that advances the date 2yrs/turn, but all the characters age at 6months/turn. When you are weak no one wants to be your ally, but as you grow in power you can find friends even from your former adversaries.
If anyone knows how to fix this, please let me know.*I was not able to get any of the character retinues to move from one general to another. *Princesses are also back from the original Medieval Total War. City walls and especially castle walls defensives have improved. They can only be built when offered by the guild. I know the manual said not all henchmen would move, but I wasn't able to move any.I have a pretty advanced computer with Vista running MTW2 Gold version and did not experience any crashes or lag even on highest graphics settings.
at just the right moment to keep your line from breaking. True - the AI in the campaign mode may not always be the Napolean we wished it were. The various terrain options test your skill at troop placement - and it DOES make a difference. But, where else can you set up a custom made battle, choose troops from countless different armies, fight the battle, then replay the recorded battle, zooming to ground level, hearing the screams and watching the bodies fly as the enemy's artillery blows holes in the advancing lines, actually feeling the explosions (if you have a decent subwoofer) - and the graphics are truly eye-watering (especially when that clod of earth hits you). Hide your cavalry in the woods on your enemies flank and then CHARGE. Line of sight is critical for artillery and archers. This game has the ability to keep arm chair generals entertained ad infinatum.
Huge armies with hundreds of units all unique to their own nations and the total war concept is what appealed to me the most. It is up there at the top with Age of Empires, Lords of the Realm, Rise of Nations, and Civilization. This game is hands down one of the best strategy games I have ever played. In all other games before this one, excluding the other Total War games, did not have the massive armies all on one battlefield, this obviously detracted from the experience. The beauty of this game is that it combines graphics, gameplay, replay-ability, and fun all into one awesome game. The other major factor that I found to be a great aspect of the game is that it is very realistic. The faction management, battlefield tactics, Crusades, Jihads, sieges, characters, religion, the Black Plague, and much more are all intertwined in a very accurate and thus realistic fashion giving a player that realistic feel of the Middle Ages.Aside from excellent gameplay, the game itself has no bugs or glitches, runs incredibly smooth, but is big in a sense of disc space it takes up (about 11gb).Overall, I was very happy to purchase this game, incredibly fun and worth the money. BUY IT.
i love this game and i am happy i could get it for so cheap
